Ibiza and Formentera have become two world-renowned destinations for international sailing elite. Ibiza host as many large boats and yachts impressive each year. The crystal clear waters of the beaches of Formentera are the favorite refuge for anchoring large floating mansions calling at the pitiusas water from other Mediterranean destinations.

The proliferation of vessels over 30 meters length is a blunt reality that is visible from any point of local coasts, and not only in marinas and ports but in small beaches deep enough to anchor as Cala Jondal, Porroig, San Antonio bay and other points of calm and crystal clear waters around the island’s coastline.

A geographical and landscape and Ibiza and Formentera of the local offer attractive gastronomy internationally recognized quality that has gained great importance in the last five years and the unique and varied range of leisure, beach clubs, bars luxury and attractive adds bars and restaurants that dot the coast, where the spectacle of the sunset is another attraction unparalleled.

This has made the port of Ibiza and Formentera is in August at maximum capacity mooring, Marina Botafoc, Ibiza Magna, Marina Sa Riba and Marina Ibiza, yacht clubs of San Antonio and Santa Eulalia not have a free mooring .

The dock Levante has become a showcase for large yachts that look spectacular illuminations of colors on the waters that attract the eyes of tourists and residents who walk through the new pedestrian area of the port of Ibiza converted into a walkway huge and luxurious floating palaces that represent more a tourist attraction for visitors to this renewed tourist center of the island’s capital.

There isn’t updated figures to give us an idea of the number of recreational boats large tonnage mooring at local ports and marinas but representatives of the main companies that control the flow of these large yachts pointed in July a notable increase.

If we consider that the June data already pointed an increase of 10% over moorings busier than on the same date of 2015, the demand to start August exceeded 20% already anticipated reserves mooring yachts for this summer that even went ahead to May and June. If the pace of demand and the weather in September remains benign we could be facing a record year for nautical tourism on the islands and probably a spectacular season in terms of traffic and profit.

A 2,200 officers available to Pitiusan moorings marinas must be added the hundreds of boats anchored in areas close to the port of Ibiza, coves, beaches and coastal shelters turned into summer night in makeshift marine backwaters.
