It is very likely that your glasses are of Luxottica, a company founded by Italian Leonardo Del Vecchio, and is also almost certain that if you are in Ibiza you have seen his megayacht, call ‘Moneikos’. The ship was built in 2006 by the Italian shipyard Codecasa. The interior decoration is the work of Italian studies Della Role and Daedalus. These two interior designers have managed to give a modern, minimalist and luxurious touch. The superyacht can accommodate 16 people on 8 cabins. Leonardo Del Vecchio created one of the largest companies in optics of nowhere. He was the son of a humble family, his father died months before his birth, so his mother was forced to give him to an orphanage. When he got young, he began working as an apprentice toolmaker and this knowledge earned him to apply to the glasses. In the late sixties he founded Luxotticca, specializing in manufacturing sunglasses that includes brands such as: Arnette, Ray-Ban, Oakley, Armani. Ralph Lauren, Bulgari, Chanel and Vogue, among many others.
Today the company owns more than 7,000 stores in 150 countries and 73,400 employees worldwide. The firm is integrated covers the entire value chain: design, product development, manufacturing, logistics and wholesale and retail distribution. In Spain the headquarters in Barcelona.
According to Forbes magazine, Del Vecchio is the second richest man in Italy.
