Families, couples, children, elderly … all up to 152 participated in the Day of the Kayak organized by Es Nàutic San Antonio, Ibiza, on August 20.
To Viky Salgado and Ainoha Parramón, mother and daughter, It’s the fifth year attending this event. “The first time we got into a kayak was that day, we were so lucky that even we won a kayak raffled at the end. We love the tour, had a great time and also make friends” they explain.
David Orenes and Marta Lopez, a few days after their wedding, have not hesitated to release in the Kayak Day with his family from Barcelona and Bulgaria. “Two of years ago we did a course in Es Nàutic and occasionally we approached the canoe to Cala Bassa or Cala Salada. It is a very nice way to do sport”, pointing minutes before departure.
Experts such as George Gascon, who with only 16 years has been in ninth place in the form of surfski in the World Championship Junior, held in late July in Minsk, Belarus. When he was eight years a friend encouraged him to get on a canoe and since then has not stopped rowing. For this young, combining studies with training at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento de Mallorca, “the most important thing is daily sacrifice, but days like today are an incentive. I encourage everyone to try it.”
Enrique Mas, sporting director of Es Nàutic, is satisfied with the call where participants have the opportunity to make the trip only one way or round trip from the Arenal beach to Cala Gració.
